What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheriff's Security Officer position at County of Tulare?
This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Sheriff’s Department. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Current vacancy is with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months.

- Provide security for the public, employees and officials in and around County and Court buildings.
- Apply the Court Services Unit and building security operations principles, particularly those that apply to public contact and weapons screening.
- Apply a variety of policies and procedures of the Court Services Unit, and other applicable rules, regulations, laws, ordinances and rules of Court.
- Operate and monitor CCTV, X-Ray, Magnetometers, or other weapons screening equipment.
- Provide information to the public to assist them in conducting business at County offices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible public contact experience.
Knowledge of:
- Math sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions.
Skill/Ability to:
- Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers.
- Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment.
- Read and understand moderately complex information.
- Write basic memos and record information using correct grammar and spelling.

DESIRABLE EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Skill/Ability to:
- Operate a personal computer.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited POST Academy.
Conditions of Employment:
