SALARY 
(A-E Steps)
Community Health Worker I:
$19.51 - $23.72 Hourly/$1,560.80 - $1,897.60 Biweekly 
Community Health Worker II:
$20.50 - $24.92 Hourly/$1,640.00 - $1,993.60 Biweekly 

About the Position: The Community Health Worker will provide direct services, linkage, prevention services, care coordination, case management, coaching, social support, navigation of systems, education, assessments, and outreach for at-risk populations; and perform related duties as assigned.
  • Gathers initial demographic information on potential clients/members and fills out appropriate forms as assigned.
  • Disseminates educational and informational materials to potential clients/members, families and groups.
  • Conducts field visits to disseminate information, provide education, and assist with case management at homes, detention facilities, hospitals, or mental health/health facilities.
  • Provides transportation services for clients/members and/or family members to ensure treatment attendance or assistance in reaching case management goals.

Community Health Worker I | Community Health Worker II
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Community Health Worker I/II: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade.
  • Community Health Worker I: No experience required.
  • Community Health Worker II: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a health or social services field, preferably with individuals with mental health disorders. 
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

License & Special Requirements:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required.  Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid CPR and basic life support certification.

The department is currently recruiting for multiple vacancies. 

In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Community Health Worker I/II, as well as, subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list. 

Testing Dates:  September 14-17, 2026 . Testing will be provided via email (excludes bilingual exam).

Tentative Interview Dates:
1st - Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
2nd -
Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 9:00am to 11:30am.
*Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to interview.
