The Sheriff's Office has an exciting opportunity to join their team of IT professionals as a Systems Administrator I

The Information Technology unit has an essential role in the Sheriff's Office. The unit supports over 450 Sheriff’s Office employees and nearly 400 desktop computers and ensures all critical 24/7/365 systems are operational and available. This unit supports the department's 911 call center, County Jail, and patrol services 24 hours a day.

Systems Administrator I is part of a career series for Systems Administrator I, II and III. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs a variety of technical duties by providing technical support including the planning, installation, coordination, maintenance, upgrades and overall support for computer systems and their individual hardware and software components; administers, evaluates and modifies systems to assure proper security and operation; plans, coordinates and implements system software program release changes for systems and servers; resolves technology problems and provides for system enhancements; provides technical support and assistance to customers; and does other related work as required.

This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County.
Distinguishing Characteristics

The Systems Administrator I classification is the entry-level position in the series. Incumbents work under close supervision and perform basic technical duties involved in the support and maintenance of assigned computer systems; provide information and assistance to customers; log and track the nature and resolution of these problems.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience:

A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:

Systems Administrator I: 

Either A: An associate's degree or 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university

Or B: A certificate of completion from a job-related, accredited vocational institution. 

 
 Licenses and Certificates:

Certain positions within this classification may require driving. When driving is an essential function of the position, a valid California driver license will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Effective July 1, 2026, the compensation for this position will increase with a 7th salary step added to the salary range. This is a bargained across the board increase for this job classification.

Salary : $80,517 - $102,752
