Executive Housekeeper

Interviews will take place beginning the week of August 24, 2026.

Job offers will take place beginning the week of August 31, 2026.

Future Salary Increases

** June 2027 – 5.27% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board 2.27% Market Adjustment)

As the Executive Housekeeper, you will work full-time and on site in a healthcare facility planning, organizing, supervising, evaluating, and administering the housekeeping and laundry programs of the Edgemoor Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility located in Santee. This position may participate in housekeeping duties as needed.

Hiring Process and Timeline

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date

Minimum Requirements

Three (3) years of housekeeping/environmental services experience as a crew leader, or Senior Custodian with the County of San Diego; OR,
Two (2) years as a Supervisor over a unit of custodians performing housekeeping/environmental services duties.
Note: Possession of an associate degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in Environmental Health or a related field; or certification as a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional is highly desirable.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the following:
Title 22 Skilled Nursing Facility Requirements
Code of Federal Regulations: Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) for Skilled Nursing Facilities
California Department of Public Health facility surveys
Principles and techniques of supervision
Training and in-service methodologies
Infection control procedures and methods, including isolation and biomedical waste disposal
Principles, methods and procedures of housekeeping in patient areas, office, and food preparation/serving areas
Methods of controlling inventory and distributing linen supplies
Floor care management including waxing, buffing, and stripping
Deodorizing and disinfecting agents appropriate to a hospital environment
County customer service objectives and strategies
Telephone, office, and online etiquette – needs to have proficiency in computer use, typing skills, use of software to include word, excel, MS office, and use of email

Condition of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

This position will require Tuberculosis testing on an annual basis.

Evaluation Process

Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in the supplemental questionnaire. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application form will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process, your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
