The Rockland County Department of Information Technology Services is seeking a candidate to join our team of system administrators. The Systems Administrator I performs technical and administrative work supporting the daily operation, maintenance and reliability of computer systems and applications across multiple departments, including our PeopleSoft ERP environment. Working under the guidance of a senior administrator, this role responds to user requests, troubleshoots system and application issues, and delivers effective solutions to ensure consistent performance. The position provides technical assistance to staff, supports proper use of PeopleSoft and other critical systems, and helps streamline workflows to improve efficiency and meet evolving operational needs. Responsibilities include evaluating new applications and system upgrades, ensuring compatibility and performance standards, and maintaining detailed documentation covering system functionality, user training, and troubleshooting procedures. The System Administrator I also conducts user training sessions to support the adoption of new features, enhancements, and system changes

Minimum Qualifications:
1. An Associate’s degree or equivalent college credits (minimum of sixty (60) credits) and five (5) years of paid work experience in systems administration, network administration, computer systems support, computer training, systems analysis, programming or any combination thereof, at least three (3) years of which must have included the use of software packages involving payroll, personnel, benefits, finance, purchasing (e.g., Peoplesoft), as a major function of the work (major function of the work is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience); or
2. A Bachelor’s degree or higher and three (3) years of paid work experience in systems administration, network administration, computer systems support, computer training, systems analysis, programming or any combination thereof, at least one (1) year of which must have included the use of software packages involving payroll, personnel, benefits, finance, or purchasing (e.g., Peoplesoft) as a major function of the work (major function of the work is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience).
Other Requirements and Information:
- This is a competitive position in Civil Service and reachability on an eligible list following a civil service examination would be a requirement for permanent appointment.
