Description This posting is for a Customer Service Specialist II or III DOQ in the Mason County Treasurer's Office This position will be primarily responsible for the administration of property tax payments, miscellaneous revenue and real estate excise tax audit, processing, and receipting.

Demonstrate knowledge and technical expertise of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and procedures. Essential Functions CSS II: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class) Responsible for opening, balancing, and maintaining the accuracy of own cash drawer. Prepare cash deposit for audit.

Perform accounting functions in compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures of the Treasurer's Office. Perform operational tasks related to assigned areas of the Treasurer's Office. Accept and process real and personal property tax payments in accordance with established procedures.

Follow up with taxpayers regarding incorrect payments or refund with tax letters or statements. Forward daily reporting to the Auditor's Office, verify in the county financial system, and file miscellaneous receipts from the previous day. Accept, review, and process real estate and mobile home excise tax affidavits and associated documents.

Review for conformance to standards, laws, rules, and regulations. Coordinate with all stakeholders. Coordinate the processing of real estate excise tax affidavits in applicable software applications.

Review, process, and issue mobile home moving permits. Responsible for verification and processing of DNR Assessment Refund forms in accordance with applicable laws and procedures. Assist customers and answers questions pertinent to the Treasurer's Office.

Explain policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements pertinent to the Treasurer's Office. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: Laws and rules of real and personal property tax collection. Laws and rules of real estate excise tax. Fund accounting and/or BARS accounting system Operating policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility.

Skill in: Organization Microsoft Suite Customer service Ability to: -Interpret and explain operating policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, regarding complex or sensitive issues. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Perform arithmetic computations and data entry accurately and efficiently.

Read real property legal descriptions. Manage multiple work priorities, deadlines, and perform duties with limited supervision. Problem solves OTHER JOB DUTIES: Collect drobox payments.

Mail pickup and distribution. Public records requests, retention, or destruction as directed. May be required to obtain ongoing educational credits, certificates, and licenses required by the Treasurer's Office and/or State statute to conduct business functions, including Notary Public Certificate.

CSS III: (Any one position may not include all the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class) Responsible for opening, balancing, and maintaining the accuracy of own cash drawer. Perform operational tasks related to assigned areas of the Treasurer's Office. Accept and process real and personal property tax payments, miscellaneous deposits/payments. Follow up with taxpayers regarding incorrect payments or refund with tax letter or statements.

Administer real and property tax payment plans, including but not limited to communicating with property owners, researching tax parcels, identifying other payment options or tax exemptions, calculating, tracking, and applying payment amounts, and creating payment contracts. Administer gambling tax billing and collection. Prepare billing reports, receipts, collection notices, research, and liens.

May work in conjunction with the State Department of Gambling. Accept, review, and process real estate and mobile home excise tax affidavits and associated documents. Review for conformance to standards, laws, rules, and regulations.

Coordinate with all stakeholders. Coordinate the processing of real estate excise tax affidavits in applicable software applications.?. Review, process, and issue mobile home moving permits

Responsible for verification and processing of DNR Assessment Refund forms in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.. Work with the Prosecuting Attorney's office and the Courts in the processing of bankruptcy claims, filings, and the preparation of legal documents and collection. Assist customers and answer more complex questions pertinent to the Treasurer's Office

Explain policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements pertinent to the Treasurer's Office. May assist the Foreclosure Deputy and Senior Accounting Technician with personal property and county tax lien collection. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

Other duties as assigned. Knowledge of: Laws and rules of real and personal property tax collection. Laws and rules of real estate excise tax collections.

Fund accounting and/or BARS accounting system. Operating policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility. Gambling tax billing and collection.
