Key Responsibilities
• Lead a specialized investigative unit
• Oversee high‑profile and confidential investigations
• Review case reports, action plans, and disciplinary recommendations
• Supervise investigative staff and ensure compliance with laws and policies
• Protect sensitive information and support operational integrity
• Collaborate with executive leadership, legal counsel, and law‑enforcement partners
• Carry and safely use department‑approved firearms in investigative duties
Minimum Requirements
Applicants may qualify under one of the following:
• Bachelor's degree 3 years peace‑officer investigative experience at Internal Affairs Investigator level or higher
• Bachelor's degree 4 years peace‑officer investigative experience with a law‑enforcement/corrections agency
• 60 units enrollment in bachelor’s program 6 years peace‑officer investigative experience (including 2 years supervisory capacity)
Assessment
A structured interview evaluating investigative knowledge, decision-making, communication, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance (70% required to pass).
