Summary:
- The Clerical Technician I performs functions such as those of a receptionist, file clerk, and typist or similar kinds of work.
Essential Duties:
- Answer telephone calls and/or receive visitors to office.
- Answer questions about services; advise visitors or callers who can provide the specific service desired and provide directions.
- Provide telephone numbers, addresses and similar information about public offices.
- Inform office personnel of visitors and/or callers and take messages as necessary.
- Data Entry using excel, Microsoft Word and the Statewide Uniform of Registered Electors (SURE) system.
- Field election questions from individuals seeking service and record such information.
- Assist full-time staff in completing applications or registrations.
- Open, sort and distribute incoming mail; sort files, records and similar material.
- Label records, file materials in alphabetical, chronological, numerical or other established file systems.
- Mandatory days and evening during election times and election days.
- Retrieve requested materials from files; sign, date-stamps or otherwise identify and/or control records.
- Receive and issue receipts for payments.
- Keep current records of telephone numbers and provides telephone numbers for other government offices as needed.
- Answer general questions about County services and government organization.
- Performs related work as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The Part Time/Seasonal Clerical Technician I has supervisory responsibility for approximately (0) direct reports.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
