Acceptable Experience and Education

High School Diploma or equivalent, and three (3) years of procurement experience with two (2) years of inventory or a related field; 


Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Certificates, Licenses, and other Requirements

Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.


In order to access the County’s network and systems, a personal mobile smart device is required by the hire start date.

Essential Duties

Assists with procurement keeps records of the inventory for the Department of Infrastructure Services, so that items are accurately stocked and stored where they belong.  Some of their daily responsibilities include:


Order, Receive and record all assets, materials, equipment and hardware; 


Keeps records of surplus materials and updates system for projecting inventory;


Takes inventories of all items in stock and maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure timely deliveries to meet departmental requirements;


Recommends layouts for maximum use and operation of warehouse or storage space;


Operates materials handling equipment; ensures that items are properly and safely stored;

Evaluates function and quality of materials purchased;


Inventories and issues frequently used supplies and materials for county departments;


Receives and disburses surplus or disposable items;


Maintains records and files;


Responsible for identifying and tracking all assets during audits of assets;


Assists in the transfer of items; 


Tags, counts and documents county assets;


Managing inventory by stocking and cataloging products;


Performing quality checks on stored inventory and discarding inventory that does not meet the minimum standards;


Implements loss prevention programs;


Updates, maintains inventory records and reconciles all inventory records yearly; and


Investigates new products, costs and comparables and orders products. Checks for accuracy of product details and testing new products accuracy of product details and testing new products.

As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.

 

Summary of Position

The Inventory Control Clerk, Intermediate under general supervision, moderately complex clerical and warehouse work coordinating all commodities and equipment movement and storage; performs procurement work placing and expediting orders for diversified goods; and performs related work as required.  



Minimum Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of: English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling; techniques for effective interpersonal communications; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment to include Windows and Microsoft based products; printing, copying, and postage equipment and related equipment; warehouse procedures and paper flow, bills of lading and invoicing; Skill/Ability to: use of material handling equipment; operate personal computer using standard Office operating software and general office equipment; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; make mathematical computations; prepare clear, concise and comprehensive written reports, and staff studies; perform arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; ability to organize and expedite orders; operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently; work rapidly and accurately with numbers, codes, and symbols; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.
