What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Public Health Engineer position at County of Dutchess?
Department of Health
2026 Salary: $100,676
This is responsible professional public health engineering work requiring a high level of technical
knowledge and professional competence. An employee in this class will be required to administer specific
programs, serve as a resource person to other staff members and supervise the engineering section in the
absence of the Supervising Public Health Engineer. This class differs from Public Health Engineer by
virtue of the increased level of technical knowledge required, the more complex work performed, and the
requirement of a professional engineering license. The work is performed under general supervision with
considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent professional judgment in carrying out
assignments. Supervision will be exercised over the work of subordinate clerical and technical employees
and may be exercised over the work of subordinate professional employees.
