Job Summary

This position provides direct clinical services to individuals and families affected by mental health and/or substance use disorders within Door County. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role involves assessment, therapy, case coordination, and oversight of treatment plans while maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal guidelines. The position supports behavioral health stabilization, recovery, and service integration across community systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 
  1. Delivers individual, couples, and family therapy, and facilitates primary treatment and continuing care groups for clients with mental health and/or substance use needs.
  2. Conducts client screenings, comprehensive assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and develops person-centered treatment plans using clinical judgment and evidence-based practices.
  3. Maintains detailed, confidential records of treatment plans, services delivered, and client progress, in compliance with DHS Chapters 34, 35, 36, and 75 requirements.
  4. Provides recovery-focused services to participants in Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), supporting community integration and functional improvement.
  5. Participates in service planning for individuals under mental health commitments, including crisis planning and regular multidisciplinary team meetings.
  6. Engages in community outreach, education, and consultation with agencies, schools, and service providers to raise awareness of behavioral health resources and promote wellness.
  7. Offers professional training to internal staff, medical professionals, and external groups on clinical topics related to behavioral health and co-occurring conditions, as needed.
  8. Collaborates in clinical staffing and cross-disciplinary team development to enhance service coordination and therapeutic outcomes

  • Crisis Management: Conducts immediate assessments and determines risk levels and appropriate interventions in high-stress situations.
  • Communication: Clearly documents clinical actions and communicates case details across service systems while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Team Collaboration: Works constructively in interdisciplinary teams to coordinate services, align treatment approaches, and support client recovery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrates working knowledge of DHS regulations and applies them consistently in documentation and service delivery.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilizes electronic health records and standard software tools effectively for documentation, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Cultural Competency: Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds and community needs in behavioral health service provision.
Required Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field from a certified college.
  • Must hold an In-Training Certificate at time of hire.
  • Must obtain Wisconsin licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) within three (3) to five (5) years of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Dual certification or experience in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of DHS 34 (Crisis Services) and DHS 36 (CCS) standards.
  • Previous experience working in community-based behavioral health settings.

Employees hired to work a full time schedule (40 hours per week) are eligible for full time benefits.
