Library Van Driver, PT
The Library Van Driver picks up and delivers library materials to each of the 18 county library facilities in a correct and timely manner. There is a regular delivery schedule, and each library is visited Monday through Friday. Light maintenance tasks are performed at Chester County Library. A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and a clear driving record are required.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to pack library materials to be delivered each day and load the van; deliver, pick-up, and sort library materials for delivery to the member libraries on the assigned route; unload materials at Chester County Library and deliver materials to internal library departments; and to perform light maintenance duties at Chester County Library.
All library positions require the following criminal background and child abuse clearances: Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and Fingerprint based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI).
Hours: 19 hours a week, Monday - Friday - 7 am – 11 am

- Deliver, pick-up and sort materials for upcoming deliveries, as scheduled.
- Pack items to be delivered each morning, load the van, and check with the office for any special items that are to be delivered.
- Make stops as scheduled at County Buildings (Courthouse, Government Services Center and 313 West Market St), member libraries, and other locations for pick-up and delivery.
- Unload materials and deliver to internal Exton library departments.
- Organize / pack materials for next day’s deliveries.
- Light maintenance and grounds cleaning as needed.
- Perform other duties, tasks, maintenance and special projects, as required.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), six months job-related experience and/or training, or any combination of education and experience.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and proceed with objectives.
- Accurate and detail oriented with good verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must have a clear driving record.
- Easily adapts to changes in the work environment.
- Flexible, with an ability to carry multiple tasks to completion
