ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Proficiently operate various tools, materials and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of autos, light trucks, heavy trucks, heavy equipment and other equipment.
- Assist with maintaining proper inventory of parts, supplies and accessories that are needed on a day-to-day basis.
- Coordinate with Shop Foreman to ensure timely repairs.
- Assist in the development and/or modification of vehicles and equipment to affect improvements or to meet new requirements.
- Assist with special fabrication projects.
- Maintain all vehicles for safe operations.
- Perform welding repairs to various county highway equipment in need.
- Perform tire repairs on all county vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a two (2) year heavy truck and/or heavy equipment repair vocational degree or certification program.
- Minimum of four (4) years (1,500 hours per year minimum) of increasingly responsible experience performing all types and levels of repairs on at least some of the following equipment classes: heavy trucks, small engines/self-powered equipment, automotive/light duty vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Training Required:
- None.
Certificates/Licenses/Tools Required:
- Possess a Commercial Class B State of Minnesota driver's license on date of hire, with a Class A license preferred; or,
- Obtain a Commercial Class A State of Minnesota driver's license with tanker endorsement and no restrictions within six (6) months of hire.
- Required to provide all non-specialty tools necessary to perform job duties.
Note: Subject to drug and alcohol testing pursuant to Department of Transportation rules; negative result required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

- Ability to safely operate equipment needing repair.

Salary : $60,070 - $74,381
