Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently performs and provides professional judgment in the analysis of complex benefits administration and operational relationships.
- Counsels employees on benefits programs; responds to employee inquiries; provides guidance and interpretation of policies and resolves issues.
- Administers all employee benefit programs and service the daily needs for the plans.
- Manages all written correspondence regarding benefits.
- Independently resolves technical problems involving enrollees and agencies.
- Perform clerical duties including making photocopies, faxing documents, scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, compiling reports, scanning documents and processing incoming mail.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Maintain a database for employee medical insurance. Update employee coverage for dental, vision, and ancillary insurance benefits.
- Handle employment information updates, including employment status, job descriptions, job titles, salary information, shift changes, and supervisor data. Communicate these changes to necessary departments using internal methods.
- Advise elected officials and department heads on employment and labor law changes.
- Input new hire information into payroll software and timekeeping programs.
- Analyze payroll reports to ensure correct processing and prepare reports for Elected Officials and department heads.
- Maintain employee deductions and memos in payroll software. Update deductions and memos following changes in employee benefit elections, employment status, open enrollment periods, and premium amount changes.
- Process vendor checks for income withholding orders, garnishments, and charitable deductions.
- Enforce incoming withholding orders and garnishments. Complete interrogatories and requests pertaining to income withholding orders and garnishments.
- Process employee termination paperwork. Assist employees eligible for retirement with their applications for benefits. Complete COBRA offers as required. Communicate with benefit programs to update employment status.
- Respond to inquiries through Sunshine Law Requests, administrators, vendors, lending institutions, other municipalities, and the public.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality of information and exhibit superior customer service in performance of duties.
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
