COUNTY OF BUCKS
Supervises the records, reception and intake unit under the direction of the Chief Deputy Warden, Warden, Superintendent and/or Captain of Security for the Department of Corrections. Designated as official custodian of records for all three shifts and provide supervision to all staff in these areas. Responsible for supervising central booking activities. Ensures all records and records-related materials are properly maintained, kept in an up-to-date manner and are presented in accord with relevant county, state and federal guidelines concerning inmate records. Ensuring the transfer of inmates in and out of the facility is completed quickly, methodically and within the practices of the Department of Corrections. Ability to work as a floor sergeant when necessary.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Ensures all internal operating procedures regarding records including their retention, utilization, safety, security and storage are properly maintained and implemented and that any deviations are corrected or reported to appropriate authorities.
Personally, carries out, or delegates and checks the appropriate calculation of time dates, lengths of sentences, minimum release dates, maximum release dates and other matters that are well known to those involved with records procedures regarding time calculations.
Implements all court orders as directed by Judges of the Court of Common Pleas or other such members of the judiciary as directed by the appropriate judicial officials.
Provides appropriate information to law enforcement authorities, other courts of jurisdiction and other official agencies as designated under the standard operating procedures of the Bucks County Department of Corrections.
Works with district courts to ensure that proper procedures are carried out and makes regular and ongoing efforts to maintain cordial working relationships with each district court in Bucks County.
Provides clear, swift and responsive answers to appropriate requests for information from private counsel and others who have various access rights to information contained in inmate records within the Department.
Ensures all confidentiality guidelines are properly implemented pursuant to standard operating procedures.
Ensures the Chief Deputy Warden is briefed on an ongoing and regular basis on matters of interest and importance regarding any aspect of Records Office or Reception operations.
Cooperate with the Business Office staff to ensure all fiscal and monetary procedures and policies are carried out as determined by the Business Office and the Controller.
Responsible for oversight of all technology requirements of the Reception and Records Units to include but not limited to; computers, scanners/copiers, body scanner, live scan, etc....
Participates as a supervisor in line operations if needed during institutional emergencies or any other unusual circumstances.
May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job. More detailed instructions regarding the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.
Work as a correctional Sergeant when needed.

Associates or bachelor's degree preferred.
Must have a minimum of two years as a Corrections Officer or related experience in the correctional field at the time of appointment.
Must compete in merit selection process before a selection board.
Must have excellent communication skills when interacting with the general public, correctional staff, and offenders.
Thorough knowledge of care and use of firearms, batons, OC spray, Tasers, and other related equipment.
Keyboard skill of 20 WPM with knowledge of computer programs which include but are not limited to Microsoft Office, OMSE, Live Scan and EMS.
Attendance and Punctuality- must have a satisfactory attendance record.
Thorough knowledge of modern correctional theories, principles and practices as related to Correctional Officer duties and to the control of offenders.
Thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the security of the Bucks County Department of Corrections.
Thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques used in enforcing discipline among persons under restraint.
Thorough knowledge of the housekeeping and sanitation measures required in the facility.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of individual and group behavior of persons under restraint.
Ability to enforce regulations tactfully, firmly, and impartially to staff and the offender population.
Ability to instruct, supervise and correct subordinates.
