Responsible for directing and administering the Office of Accessibility Services, including program and services delivery, management, supervision and evaluation of staff, budget and inventory management, and departmental strategic planning. The Director of Accessibility Services provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all programs and services administered through the Office of Accessibility Services. The Director ensures that County College of Morris complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Title II regulations, and other applicable federal and state laws, as it relates to the disabled student population.


1. Provide leadership and direction for all operations of the Accessibility Services Office. This includes directing, managing, administering and authorizing the programs, services, and training delivered through the office that support access for students with disabilities. Manage the Accessibility Services budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Responsible for the supervision and development of staff as well as hiring and overseeing ASL interpreters. Plan, budget, manage, and evaluate all aspects of accessibility services including but not limited to review of appropriate documentation, establishing classroom accommodations and accommodated testing.


2. Maintain expertise of psychological, neuropsychological, and educational evaluations, DSM diagnoses, and specific accommodations related to certain accessibility needs. Review and interpret confidential psychoeducational evaluations, medical documentation, and other relevant documentation to determine eligibility for services. Coordinate and implement services for individuals with a broad range of disabilities, including but not limited to: physical and mobility impairments, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, health-related and chronic medical conditions, neurological disabilities, hearing and visual impairments, and neurodiverse populations such Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Maintain knowledge of the interactive process for granting and denying appropriate academic accommodations in compliance with ADA regulations as they apply to the post-secondary setting. Maintain knowledge of the fundamental alteration process. Establish and implement well-defined processes for appeal of accommodations denials.


3. Provide information about disability-related services and documentation requirements to current and prospective students, parents, faculty, staff, high school counselors, and child study teams. Consult with students, faculty, and administrators regarding accessibility services related issues. Provide faculty and staff training and consultation on disability matters.


4. Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of assistive technology resources, including the AIM database, adaptive software, and alternate formats (e.g., digital text, print books, audio, and journals), to ensure access for disabled students through academic accommodations and accommodated testing. Administers the implementation and programming of electronic databases.


5. Collaborate with campus offices to coordinate services and accommodations for disabled students, including those in specialized programs. Serves as part of the Campus Assessment, Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team.


6. Guides the department through strategic planning and assessment efforts, including evaluation of the department’s outcomes and assessment data collection and reporting process.


7. Actively participate in appropriate college committees. Remain current on policies and procedures as it relates to shifting legal requirements.


Minimum of five (5) years of appropriate experience that Includes administrative responsibility and at least three (3) years supervisory and fiscal management experience. Direct experience working with students with disabilities in a college setting (preferably the community college), with ability to collaborate effectively with individuals with a wide range of disabilities.


Strong organizational skills, outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to use information technology to deliver, monitor, and evaluate programs and services for students. Familiarity with various disabilities and how to assess them for appropriate accommodations, desirable. This includes knowledge of ADA, ADAA, Title 2 & 3, Title 9, Section 504, Section 508, and other related laws.


Master’s Degree required, preferably in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or another relevant field.

Salary : $93,238 - $107,000
