Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, ensuring the well-being and comfort of clients while promoting their independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Provide personal care and support to individuals with varying needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, dementia, or autism.
- Monitor patients' overall health status, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring hygiene standards are met.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals and assist in medication administration when required.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being and companionship.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Must be able to clear a background check.
- Previous experience in home health care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring health signs is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with physical mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
