Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring timely communication of any changes to the healthcare team.
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to protocols and maintaining precise medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, ensuring a safe environment that promotes dignity and comfort.
- Assist with procedures involving aseptic techniques and infection control measures in acute care settings like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers.
- Support patients with complex needs including those in hospice or palliative care by offering emotional support and ensuring comfort measures are implemented effectively.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various environments such as medical-surgical units, pediatric units (PICU), behavioral health facilities, or outpatient clinics to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Requirements
- Valid State Tested Nursing Assistant certification or license required; must be current and in good standing.
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare settings including long-term care, hospitals, assisted living, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliant patient interactions and documentation.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Familiarity with specialized care procedures including catheter care, phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and use of medical equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs; experience caring for patients with dementia or memory impairments is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to caregiving; ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care settings is preferred.
