Accountant (Part-Time)

Counseling Services for Wellbeing is a locally owned mental health practice based in Burien, Washington. We support a dedicated team of mental health and psychiatric providers serving individuals and families across the region. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and dependable Accountant to support our financial operations and ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting.
This role handles daily accounting tasks, revenue reconciliation, payroll, provider-facing communication, preparation of financial reports, and general ledger management. The ideal candidate has strong accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a confidential, HIPAA-compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile weekly cash, check, and credit card payments
- Prepare and process weekly bank deposits
- Reconcile revenue entries across accounting systems
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Process client refunds
- Perform general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
- Complete month-end bank reconciliations and closing procedures
- Prepare detailed financial reports for management
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
- Record accurate journal entries using double-entry bookkeeping
- Handle payroll processing and payroll taxes
- Prepare 1099-NEC tax documents annually
- Calculate and process monthly provider payments
- Assist with tax document preparation and regulatory compliance
- Support internal audits and maintain precise transaction records
- Communicate with providers regarding revenue questions or discrepancies
- Maintain accurate financial records and support a variety of accounting needs
About You:
- 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable reconciling high-volume data
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (preferred), familiarity with other accounting platforms a plus
- Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting standards
- Experience with HIPAA compliance
- Strong understanding of journal entries, debits/credits, and general ledger workflows
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Professional communication skills, especially when interacting with providers and clients
- Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and support diverse accounting functions
- Comfortable with occasional weekend tasks
