High School Academic Support Interventionist
Thomas Jefferson High School
$26.00 per hour (may increase with experience)
187 days.year
8.0 hrs/day, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (includes a required 30 minute unpaid lunch break)
SUMMARY
To provide academic support through an interim placement for students who are in need of additional support to attain or recover high school credits.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required: Associate's degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in education from a four year accredited college or university
- Preferred: Valid Iowa teaching certificate
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain a relationship with students who are struggling to succeed and may be credit deficient.
- Collaborate with high school teachers to implement lessons appropriate for the curriculum on standards the student has not yet mastered.
- Work to learn and understand how to use district supported curriculum and assessments in order to support a student assigned to the interim placement.
- Meet on a regular basis to provide progress updates with the building level student success team.
- Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and students, when appropriate, about progress.
- Use individualized reinforcement techniques for each student as needed.
- Develop and distribute progress reports as required.
- Work and support with students needing credit recovery or additional academic support as directed by the principal.
- Collaborate with building teams to ensure successful transition of students back to the classroom.
- Maintain the physical environment of the classroom daily.
- Meet core expectations for all standard employees as outlined by the district.
- Report to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
