Role Description This full-time, on-site High School Special Education Teacher position is located in Council Bluffs, IA. The teacher will plan and deliver specially designed instruction for students with diverse learning needs, aligned with individualized education programs (IEPs) and state standards. Daily responsibilities include adapting curriculum, differentiating instruction, managing IEP documentation, monitoring progress, and using data to adjust teaching strategies. The teacher will collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success and inclusion in the least restrictive environment. Additional duties may include participating in IEP meetings, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and maintaining a safe, positive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Special Education and Disabilities, including understanding of IEPs, accommodations, and behavior support strategies.
- Strong Teaching skills, including lesson planning, instructional differentiation, classroom management, and use of data to inform instruction.
- Experience or readiness to work with Middle School and High School age learners, with an understanding of adolescent development and transition needs.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and community partners, both verbally and in writing.
- Valid state teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Special Education (or closely related field), in accordance with Iowa requirements.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful classroom that supports diverse backgrounds, abilities, and cultures.
- Proficiency with educational technology, learning management systems, and digital tools used for instruction and progress monitoring.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field required; advanced degree or additional endorsements in Special Education are preferred.
