Warehouse Technician
DEPARTMENT: District Support Services
START DATE: Immediate
HOURS OF WORK: 8:00am - 4:30pm 12 month position

STARTING WAGE: $17.90 - 18.35
Reports To: Director of Maintenance and Facilities
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Warehouse Technician supports district operations by performing a variety of warehouse,
distribution, and inventory duties; providing backup dispatch support for the Transportation
Department; and assisting custodial teams as needed. This position plays an essential role in
ensuring smooth material flow, timely communication across departments, and maintaining safe,
clean, and functional school facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments according to district procedures.
- Pick, pack, and deliver orders to school sites and district departments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using district inventory systems.
- Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas, ensuring safe, clean, and accessible conditions.
- Coordinate surplus collection, storage, and disposal following district guidelines.
- Operate district vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
Transportation Dispatch Support
- Provide dispatch coverage as assigned, including answering calls, coordinating driver assignments, and responding to transportation needs.
- Communicate route updates, delays, and urgent issues to drivers, school staff, and families as directed.
- Input and update transportation data (routes, student information, logs) into district systems.
- Support compliance with safety procedures, documentation requirements, and district transportation policies.
Custodial Support (As Needed)
- Fill in for custodial staff during absences, shortages, or special events.
- Perform routine custodial tasks including cleaning, disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, and restocking supplies.
- Assist with event setup and teardown when required.
- Maintain building cleanliness and safety standards in alignment with district expectations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of warehouse processes, inventory control, and materials handling.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment and district vehicles.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills, especially in dispatch and multi-tasking environments.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with transportation, maintenance, and custodial teams.
- Basic computer skills; ability to learn district software systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification (training provided by district if needed).
- Ability to pass background check and any required district/federal screenings.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly and perform manual labor tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior warehouse or inventory management experience.
- Experience in dispatch, transportation operations, or similar communication-heavy roles.
- Previous custodial or facilities experience in an educational or commercial setting.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work involves lifting, bending, standing, and operating equipment in warehouse and school facility environments.
- May require working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to respond quickly and calmly in dispatch or operational emergencies.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special events or urgent needs.
