Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lawrence, KS, for an Employment Consultant - Job Coach (56559). The Employment Consultant will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving employment goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting clients with job searches, facilitating job training, providing on-site job coaching, and building relationships with employers. The role may also involve tracking client progress, maintaining documentation, and fostering opportunities for workplace integration and skill development.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in job coaching, career counseling, and assisting individuals with job searches
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills to engage effectively with clients and employers
- Organizational and planning skills to manage multiple clients and maintain accurate records
- Ability to identify client strengths and potential, fostering skill development and personal growth
- Flexibility, patience, and problem-solving skills to adapt to client needs and resolve challenges in the workplace
- Familiarity with employment laws, disability accommodations, and best practices in supported employment is a plus
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to travel locally as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is desirable
- Basic computer proficiency, including knowledge of office software and email communication
