Cottonwood is looking for a compassionate, motivated Employment Consultant I to support individuals with disabilities as they explore careers, secure employment, and thrive in the workplace. What You'll Do
You’ll serve as a connector, coach, advocate, and problem‑solver, including:
Support Job Seekers

Build strong, trusting relationships with individuals and their support teams

Assist with job assessments, resumes, and customized job searches

Use encouragement, positive reinforcement, and person‑centered planning
Support Employment Success

Provide on‑the‑job coaching and skill development

Help coordinate transportation, accommodations, and job orientation

Support communication between employees, employers, and families

Offer follow‑up and problem‑solving to ensure long‑term success
Partner with Employers

Build and maintain relationships with local employers

Learn workforce needs through outreach and relationship‑building

Provide disability awareness and workplace support as needed
Stay Organized & Accountable

Maintain accurate documentation, reports, schedules, and timesheets

Communicate clearly with funders, team members, and stakeholders

Participate actively on interdisciplinary teams
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings both heart and follow‑through:
Required

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Ability to pass background checks and drug screening
Preferred
-
Some college coursework
-
1–3 years of experience in customer service or social services

Familiarity with the Lawrence business community
