Duties
- Assist the Director of Nursing in managing daily nursing operations within the assisted living facility, ensuring smooth shift management and optimal staffing levels.
- Supervise nursing staff, including licensed nurses and caregivers, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and ongoing training to uphold clinical excellence.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including those requiring specialized services such as hospice or home health care.
- Ensure accurate documentation review, maintenance of medical records, and compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect resident privacy and confidentiality.
- Monitor clinical procedures related to residents’ physiology and anatomy, ensuring safe medication administration and adherence to medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate resident care, including MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments for Medicare reimbursement and regulatory reporting.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems efficiently to document care activities, track progress, and ensure seamless communication across shifts.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of healthcare regulations related to assisted living, nursing home standards, and hospice care requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license with current state licensure; prior experience in assisted living or nursing home settings strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with a proven track record in nurse management or nursing administration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of assisted living operations, Medicare regulations, MDS processes, and documentation review procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for medical records management and resident documentation.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinical best practices relevant to elderly care.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff, foster teamwork, and manage shift operations effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and best practices for safeguarding protected health information.
