Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Operate patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to assist with mobility and prevent injury.
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with healthcare protocols.
- Provide emotional support and effective communication to foster trust and understanding with residents or clients.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and patient transfers using proper techniques like the Hoyer lift or patient transfer methods.
- Strong skills in caregiving, patient personal care assistance, meal preparation, and assisting with ADLs.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- A compassionate attitude combined with physical stamina to support long shifts involving physical activity.
