Cottage Grove High School is seeking a dynamic, committed, and student-centered Head Football Coach to lead our football program beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.
We are hiring as soon as possible to allow the incoming coach time to:
- Build a coaching staff for the 2025–2026 spring and summer periods
- Establish program expectations, culture, and communication systems
- Plan and implement off-season development leading into Fall 2026

Primary Responsibilities
The Head Football Coach will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Cottage Grove Football Program, including:
Program Leadership
- Provide vision, direction, and oversight for the entire program—youth, middle school, and high school levels.
- Build and mentor a complete coaching staff; supervise and evaluate assistant coaches.
- Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with players, families, youth programs, and community partners.
Coaching and Player Development
- Analyze and teach fundamental and advanced football skills, techniques, and systems.
- Plan, organize, and run high-quality practices and off-season sessions.
- Develop game plans, manage game operations, and evaluate performance.
- Create a positive, disciplined, learning-focused team culture.
Academic, Administrative, and Compliance
- Monitor academic progress, eligibility, and the overall well-being of student-athletes.
- Ensure full compliance with CGHS, Sky-Em League, and OSAA rules and expectations.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, budgeting, fundraising, and program needs.
Department and Community Engagement
- Support the broader CGHS Athletic Department by assisting with events, collaborating with other programs, and contributing to a unified athletic culture.
- Demonstrate a commitment to service, sportsmanship, and representing CGHS with pride.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Head Coaching experience (preferred)
- High School teaching or staff experience (preferred)
- Experience in program building, community engagement, and multi-level program alignment
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to model CGHS values and expectations on and off the field
Compensation
Stipend compensation will follow the current Cottage Grove High School athletics salary schedule.
