Field Service Manager – Flooring / Builder DivisionPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Manager to join our flooring team. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position responsible for managing flooring projects in the field and serving as a key point of contact between our company, builders, jobsite superintendents, installers, and internal teams.
The ideal candidate has experience in flooring, residential construction, or working directly with production/home builders and understands the importance of schedules, quality installation, jobsite communication, and quickly resolving field issues.
Previous flooring or builder experience is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple flooring projects from scheduling through installation, completion, and final service.
- Serve as a primary field contact for builders, superintendents, installers, and internal teams.
- Coordinate installation schedules to meet builder construction timelines and closing dates.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to inspect installation quality, verify job readiness, and identify potential issues before they affect the schedule.
- Troubleshoot and resolve field issues involving installations, materials, measurements, jobsite conditions, and workmanship.
- Communicate professionally and proactively with builder superintendents and customers regarding schedules, changes, delays, and service needs.
- Review flooring take-offs, purchase orders, selections, and change orders for accuracy.
- Coordinate with installers and subcontractors to ensure work is completed correctly, safely, and on schedule.
- Work closely with warehouse, purchasing, scheduling, sales, and customer service teams to ensure materials and labor are available when needed.
- Monitor open jobs, punch items, service requests, and callbacks through completion.
- Help minimize installation errors, unnecessary service calls, material waste, and project delays.
- Use RFMS flooring management software to track jobs, documentation, estimates, quotes, purchase orders, and project status.
- Ensure completed work meets company quality standards, builder requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Maintain strong working relationships with builders, field personnel, installers, and customers.
Qualifications
- Flooring industry and/or residential builder experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing field operations, construction projects, installations, or builder accounts preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules and the ability to manage multiple active jobs at the same time.
- Knowledge of flooring products and installation practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, floor plans, take-offs, and construction documents.
- Experience reviewing estimates, purchase orders, and job costing information.
- RFMS experience is preferred; candidates with experience using similar flooring or construction management software will also be considered.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and customer service.
- Comfortable working directly with builders, superintendents, subcontractors, installers, and homeowners.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with an internal team.
