CDL Driver

Position Summary:

CDL Drivers are responsible for transporting different types of goods from our company’s distribution centers to our various store locations in NY, NJ, MD, and VA, and other states when needed; as well as to customers homes or places of business using a truck. They are also required to perform inspections before and after a trip, and unload products from the truck to the facilities.

Job Functions

• Pickup and delivery between stores (transfers) and maintain appropriate documentation for this safety sensitive position
• Pickup and deliver to customers, must maintain company standards of customer service at all times
• Plan routes and meeting delivery schedules
• Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery
• Always represent the company in a positive manner
• Must immediately inform supervisor of any issues with company vehicles or equipment when they arise
• Must treat inter-company mail as an asset and get it to the appropriate locations in a timely manner
• Maintain a safe and competent driving record as demonstrated on state Motor Vehicle Record
• Maintain a valid Class B CDL license
• Must be forklift certificated
• Participate in all company safety training
• Load and Unload freight, including carrying out to sales floor
• Be “customer ready” whenever you are on the stage/sales floor
• Uphold cleanliness standards (including, but not limited to, refraining from smoking in any Company- provided vehicle) in vehicles and work areas and complete weekly equipment maintenance checklist
• Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
• Be alert for possible merchandise losses. Protect all company assets and report any missing or damaged merchandise to your supervisor
• Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
• Perform other tasks as asked by store management
• Check condition of box(es) to ensure that there is no damage
• Load and unload cargo, or help others with loading and unloading
• Read transport documents to determine assignment details
• Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
• Operate Company vehicle in a safe manner and comply with all applicable motor vehicle and traffic laws
• Adhere to company rules and regulations
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles
• Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
• Make safety a priority at all times
• Other duties as assigned by Operations and Executive teams

Other Requirements:

• Must hold a valid CDL License, Class B
• Must have a clean driving record in accordance with the MVR and our insurance carrier
• Must have a valid DOT medical card, must renew every 2 years
• Must have reliable transportation
• Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
• Must be forklift certified

• Basic knowledge of hand tools and their usage.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in a team and assist others.

Climbing In-frequent Stairs in storage rooms, ladders

Vision Constant Read labels, recognize boxes, safety in working and operating motor vehicle

Hearing Constant Safety signals

Reports to Warehouse Manager and VP of Operations

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour

Experience:

• Commercial driving: 5 years (Required)
• NY Commerical driving: 2 years (Required)
