What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designer 2 position at COST of Wisconsin, Inc.?
We Build Dreams
Imagine seeing your designs come to life in zoos, theme parks, museums, resorts, and immersive environments across the country! COST of Wisconsin creates award‑winning themed construction—and we’re looking for a construction designer 2 who’s excited to blend creativity with technical execution.
This role is perfect for a designer who loves detail, thrives in collaboration, and wants their work to exist beyond the screen.
Why You’ll Love This Role
- Work on one‑of‑a‑kind themed projects, not repeat buildings
- Turn creative concepts into real, buildable environments
- Collaborate with talented designers and project teams in multiple departments
- Grow your technical and creative skills on complex projects
- See your designs fabricated, installed, and experienced by the public
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create 2D and 3D technical drawings--detailing concrete or structural steel
- Develop complex project‑specific details with limited direction
- Collaborate with project managers, senior designers, and internal and external partners
- Review contract documents and respond to RFIs
- Prepare and revise submittals to meet project and company standards
- Recommend materials and methods that balance design intent, budget, and safety
What We’re Looking For
- 3–6 years of experience in design, construction, or themed environments
- Associate's degree in engineering, construction, industrial design, architecture, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Rhino (2-3 years of experience); ability to learn technology
- Strong eye for detail, problem‑solving mindset, and ability to juggle multiple projects
- Collaborative, with pride in high‑quality work and craftsmanship
- Strong communication skills
Our Environment
- Primarily office‑based with some interaction with the shop and field.
- Overtime may be required depending on project schedules.
- Occasional travel gives you the chance to see the projects firsthand.
We provide a rich benefit package including PTO, multiple insurance options, 401(k), a discretionary bonus plan, and much more!
