Certifications, Education, and Training:
- A valid driver's license is required for deliveries.
- A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
- Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
Preferred Qualification:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
Essential Job Functions:
- Smokey various meats for sale in the store.
- Monitor product expiration dates and ensure proper rotation.
- Identify damaged or unsellable products and follow procedures for damage claims.
- Accurately count and record merchandise during inventory.
- Change shelf tags, price markers, and label/price merchandise quickly and accurately.
- Be knowledgeable about department items, procedures, and policies to answer customer questions accurately and courteously.
- Assist customers at the counter by weighing, wrapping, and pricing selected items.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results.
- Wrap and package meat products in the appropriate tray or container.
- Know and implement the Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
- Unload and sort incoming shipments and stock them neatly without damaging merchandise.
- Stock department shelves by matching item UPC codes to shelf tags and ensuring products are front-facing for customers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and department for customers and coworkers.
- Know, comply with, and encourage others to comply with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely and competently.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
- Demonstrate basic math and reading skills required for the position.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Promote new items and weekly specials through effective merchandising and creative displays.
- Monitor the department for potential security issues and report concerns to management.
- Support the company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed, and gaining new skills when necessary.
Physical Abilities:
- Reaching overhead with both arms up to 72 inches, twisting at the waist, and lifting objects with both hands weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Pushing and pulling grocery items/carts to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 40 lbs.
- Standing and walking for long periods on tile, asphalt, concrete, or other hard surfaces.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Bending, squatting, and crouching, sometimes reaching floor level.
- Working in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers.
