Buyer Planner – Supply Chain/Operations

Position Summary: The Buyer/Planner is responsible for procuring goods and services required to support manufacturing operations and customer demand. This role ensures timely delivery of materials, maintains strong supplier relationships, and supports cost reduction initiatives across the supply chain. The position plays a key role in managing procurement processes, supplier performance, inventory planning, and coordination with internal departments to ensure operational efficiency and supply continuity. Key responsibilities include:

Procurement & Supply Management

  • Procure goods and services to ensure timely availability of materials required to meet manufacturing schedules and customer demand.
  • Execute purchasing activities in support of all supply chain and manufacturing operations.
  • Manage the full Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process, including supplier negotiations, purchase order placement, order expediting, and invoice resolution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely procurement documentation within the ERP system.

Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery performance, and cost competitiveness.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and performance monitoring to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Support supplier development and improvement initiatives when required.

Cost Reduction & Strategic Sourcing

  • Support and participate in cost reduction initiatives aimed at achieving year-over-year savings on recurring spend.
  • Identify opportunities for low-cost country sourcing, competitive bidding, and supplier consolidation.
  • Participate in sourcing events including e-auctions and other strategic sourcing tools where applicable.

Planning & Operational Support

  • Work cross-functionally with production, planning, and operations teams to ensure materials availability.
  • Support production planning and scheduling through accurate procurement and supplier coordination.
  • Monitor and track Return Goods Requests (RGR) and coordinate with suppliers on returns and replacements.

Inventory & Supply Chain Optimization

  • Assist with inventory management efforts to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize shortages or excess inventory.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Analyze procurement and supply chain data to support informed decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or materials management.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Procurement processes
  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Supplier Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Production Planning and Scheduling
  • Experience in e-auctions, low-cost country sourcing, or Lean Manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • ISM or APICS certification preferred.
  • Experience with Acumatica ERP or similar ERP systems is preferred.

  • Demonstrated negotiation and contracting skills with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills to support purchasing and operational decision-making.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated professional capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate and professionally communicate with internal teams and external partners at all organizational levels.
  • Strong computer proficiency including ERP systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
