NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY

Job Title: Case Supervisor, Grade B

The work involves responsibility for providing professional social casework services work by supervising the activities of subordinate staff within a specific unit in a Division of the Department of Social Services. The incumbent provides recommendations to a higher level administrator in the development of policies and procedures relative to the delivery of social services programs, which are consistent with laws and rules. The incumbent also interprets State and Federal laws and provides information to subordinate staff. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level administrator with extensive mandated training provided through the State and the agency. Does related work as required.

Work Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week with benefits

Salary: $31.2705-39.5804/HR - 2026 RATE(CSEA Union)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Open Competitive:

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher and three (3) years of social casework experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Promotional:

• Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class position of Senior Caseworker in Cortland County and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months immediately preceding the filling of an application for the position of Case Supervisor, Grade B; OR
• Candidates must be permanently employed in the position of Caseworker in Cortland County and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months immediately preceding the filing of an application for the position of Case Supervisor, Grade B; OR
• An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

NOTE:

Degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, applicant must provide independent verification of equivalency. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate to the vehicles operated. Failure to maintain a NYS driver’s license including driving privileges throughout employment will result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
