Position Summary
The Accountant supports the company’s accounting operations, with a focus on supporting and verifying Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P) activities executed by the company’s outsourced accounting team. This role performs review and verification procedures, prepares supporting schedules, and assists the VP of Finance with monthly reporting packages and close-related deliverables. This is a supporting and oversight role, not an owner of cash execution or external communications.
Responsibilities
- Supports outsourced A/R activities, including invoicing, cash application, and collections support.
- Verifies customer invoices are generated completely, accurately, and on a timely basis per contract terms and billing schedules.
- Reviews invoice details, A/R aging, and cash application reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains internal visibility into A/R status, including delayed billings, unapplied cash, and aging trends.
- Prepares A/R supporting schedules for monthly reporting and management review.
- Supports outsourced A/P processing through invoice review, approvals, and documentation.
- Review A/P aging and payment reports to confirm timely and accurate processing.
- Coordinates internal approvals, coding questions, and issue resolution.
- Maintains organized supporting documentation for expenses and vendor invoices.
- Prepares supporting schedules for month-end close, including A/R, A/P, expenses, and accruals.
- Assists the VP of Finance in generating monthly reporting packages, including backup schedules and variance support.
- Coordinates with the outsourced accounting team during close to ensure timelines are met.
- Reviews journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the outsourced accounting team.
- Assists with audit preparation and documentation.
- Helps document accounting processes and internal controls.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of accounting experience in a supporting or coordination-focused role.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience working with outsourced accounting teams preferred.
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
- Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
