Overview:
We are seeking an early-career Electrical Engineer to support design and engineering activities related to Remedial Action Schemes (RAS) and transmission system protection.
This role focuses on engineering documentation, electrical design support, and coordination with project managers, field crews, and internal engineering teams working on transmission and substation projects.
This is a full-time long-term contract, hybrid position based in Vancouver, WA (3 days on-site per week). Occasional regional travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review electrical design documents, engineering drawings, and configuration files for RAS and related protection/control systems.
- Develop material and procurement specifications.
- Support engineering design for new installations, equipment upgrades, and modifications to transmission facilities.
- Participate in site visits to verify equipment configurations and update as-built documentation.
- Research, draft, and maintain engineering standards, templates, and guides.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field crews to resolve design issues and ensure project accuracy.
- Maintain accurate engineering records in accordance with compliance and information governance requirements.
- Support development of RAS drawing templates and engineering standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- At least 6 months of experience in electrical engineering design or technical review.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles related to transmission system equipment and components.
- Experience in at least one of the following: protective relays, control systems, SCADA, telecom, or substation design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of substation protection schemes.
- Exposure to RAS concepts or design.
- SCADA system experience (design, installation, or configuration).
Work Details:
- Hybrid schedule: minimum 3 days on-site in Vancouver, WA.
- Regional travel up to 10%.
- Overtime approximately 5%.
