Title: Electronics Engineer 2 – Communications & Control Planning
Location: Vancouver, WA | Telework Eligible (1-2 days onsite per week)
Overview:
Join a dynamic team focused on developing and implementing communications and control systems that support power grid operations. You’ll work on planning, analyzing, and documenting upgrades and expansions to operational communications systems, including fiber optic and digital radio networks.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and develop plans-of-service (PoS) for communications/control projects.
- Provide technical support for network transmission, interconnections, and customer service projects.
- Develop cost estimates and recommend optimal solutions for communications systems.
- Analyze communications systems using tools such as Pathloss and TCIS.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and operations teams to ensure regulatory and project compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Electronic Engineering or related field.
- 5 years of electronics/electrical engineering experience.
- 2 years: planning digital radio and fiber optic systems, cost estimating, technical communication, and developing solutions for communications/control systems.
- Knowledge of transmission and operational telecom systems.
Preferred:
- Electric utility experience, especially in C&C planning.
- Knowledge of NERC/WECC standards, Protective Relaying, RAS, or Ethernet WAN networks.
- Experience with power grid communications/control systems.
