Role Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all safety, training, and compliance initiatives across MediDrive’s Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) network. This role ensures the highest standards of passenger safety, driver performance, and regulatory compliance while driving a proactive safety culture across multiple markets. The Safety Manager will develop and implement training programs, conduct field oversight, and partner with internal teams and transportation providers to reduce risk, prevent incidents, and ensure safe, reliable service delivery.
Reporting Structure
The Safety Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and works closely with Network Operations, Transportation Managers, Quality, and Compliance teams.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring both in-office work and travel across multiple markets. Regular field visits to transportation providers are required to support training, audits, and safety oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Oversight & Compliance: Lead and enforce safety standards across MediDrive’s transportation network, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and contractual requirements including ADA, DOT, OSHA, and program-specific regulations.
- Training & Program Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve safety training programs for transportation providers and internal teams, including onboarding, certification, and refresher training.
- Driver Training & Coaching: Provide hands-on, in-field coaching to drivers and transportation providers on passenger handling, securement, and safe operating procedures. Reinforce best practices and correct unsafe behaviors.
- Passenger Safety & Risk Reduction: Develop and execute strategies to improve passenger safety outcomes, reduce incidents, and enhance the overall member experience.
- Incident Management: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
- Field Audits & Evaluations: Conduct regular safety audits, ride-alongs, and performance evaluations across markets to ensure adherence to safety protocols and identify areas for improvement.
- Compliance Monitoring: Maintain documentation of safety training, certifications, and audit results to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Safety Culture Development: Promote a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization and transportation provider network.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Claims, Customer Service, and Network teams to address safety concerns, complaints, and trends impacting service delivery.
- Data & Reporting: Track, analyze, and report on safety metrics, incident trends, and training effectiveness. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Process Improvement: Identify gaps in safety processes and implement scalable solutions to improve efficiency, compliance, and outcomes.
- Additional Duties: Lead or support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the COO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Safety Management, Transportation, Public Health, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation safety, training, or compliance, preferably within NEMT or healthcare transportation.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and regulatory compliance reviews.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across multiple markets.

Compensation
MediDrive offers a competitive compensation package designed to attract and retain high-performing professionals. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
