Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Position Overview
Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. May interact with outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit or sub-unit. Receives work assignments with general instructions. Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
Directs and provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees/subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Interactions include assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals. Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups. Encompasses the direction and inspection of the performance of individuals or a team of associates who put together components to make assemblies, subassemblies, completed units, or make or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment.
Job Duties And Essential Functions
Must be able to see, hear, speak, and move about a manufacturing environment. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Must be able to apply grip strength and use mechanical tools. Must be able to perceive heat and cold. Must maintain a significant level of cognitive function to solve complex problems.
Working Conditions
The range for this position is $49,111.00 - $67,528.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
- May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to other personnel.
- Uses the principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to provide technical support to manufacturing engineers making a product in an industrial environment.
- Encompasses scientific and technological principles involved in the design, manufacturability, and operation of products, equipment, and systems in an industrial environment.
- High school education and 2 years relevant work experience
- Effective communicator: peers, subordinates, and leadership
- Capacity to learn complex manufacturing process flow and/or systems
- Strong data analysis skills
- Inquisitive problem-solving skills
- High individual initiative and self-management
