Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Cornet, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Fire Alarm Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing systems in compliance with NFPA codes, local regulations, and project specifications. You will collaborate closely with project managers, field superintendents, and AHJs to ensure system designs meet all life-safety requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
  • Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
  • Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
  • Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
  • Prepare submittals and material lists.
  • Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
  • Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level III minimum preferred).
  • Experience with Seimens, Potter, Notifier, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
  • AutoCAD, FireCAD, and/or BlueBeam experience preferred. Other drafting programs may be considered.
  • Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Self-learner, self-motivated, dedicated, organized, and a team player.
  • Must have good communication and organization skills.
  • Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.
