Junior Systems Administrator
Type: Long-term Contract

We are seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of enterprise server, storage, virtualization, and network infrastructure.
This position is ideal for an IT professional with a few years of technical support or junior systems administration experience who is ready to deepen their skills in Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware/Hyper-V, backup and recovery, DNS/DHCP, networking, monitoring, and infrastructure support.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced infrastructure professionals while supporting system health, troubleshooting connectivity issues, maintaining documentation, and assisting with technology deployments across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily administration and maintenance of servers, storage, and network systems.
- Assist with configuration and administration of VMware and/or Hyper-V virtual environments.
- Apply patches and system updates to maintain performance and security.
- Maintain and verify backup systems and participate in disaster recovery testing.
- Support Active Directory user/group administration and basic Group Policy activities.
- Help configure and maintain core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, DFS, and certificates.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity, switch/port status, and configuration issues.
- Monitor system and network health using infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Assist with deployment of switches, wireless access points, cabling, and other infrastructure equipment.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Track incidents, service requests, and assets through ticketing and inventory systems.
- Participate in after-hours support and on-call rotation as assigned.
- Travel to nearby sites as needed for infrastructure deployment or support.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of IT experience in technical support, help desk, desktop support, or junior systems administration.
- Foundational experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
- Understanding of basic Group Policy concepts.
- Familiarity with VMware and/or Hyper-V.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, switches, ports, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience with backup and recovery processes.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Pompano Beach, FL five days per week.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed for equipment installation and support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic PowerShell experience.
- Exposure to system or network monitoring tools.
- Experience creating and maintaining SOPs and technical documentation.
- Interest or exposure to cloud technologies.
- Experience with infrastructure equipment deployment.
- One or more of the following certifications: CompTIA A , CompTIA Network , CompTIA Security , Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
Education
Bachelor’s degree, technical institute degree/certificate in Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
