What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conformal Coating Operator / Electronics Technician position at Cornerstone Staffing Solutions?
We are seeking a detail-oriented Conformal Coating Operator to apply protective polymer coatings to complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs). In this role, you will prepare electronic components, operate precision automated coating equipment, and ensure high-reliability boards meet strict quality standards for the automotive, medical, and aerospace sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision Masking: Manually mask sensitive board components (connectors, switches, test points) using tape, dots, or liquid latex to prevent coating ingress.
- Machine Operation: Set up, program, and operate automated conformal coating spray systems and curing ovens (UV/thermal). [1]
- Quality Inspection: Use blacklights (UV) and magnification tools to inspect finished boards for defects like bubbles, voids, or uneven thickness.
- Rework & Touch-up: Perform manual touch-ups using brushes or spray guns when necessary, and carefully de-mask boards post-cure.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain coating valves, nozzles, and pressure tanks according to daily safety and maintenance schedules.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs, including chemical batch numbers and process parameters.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 1 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA assembly, or operating automated machinery.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing schematics.
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with IPC-A-610 or IPC-CC-830 standards is highly preferred.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent hand-eye coordination for delicate masking and fine touch-up work.
- Safety Conscious: Comfortable working with chemical coatings, ventilation hoods, and required PPE (respirators/gloves).
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
