Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code pediatric medical procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to ensure precise billing.
- Prepare and submit clean claims via Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, adhering to insurance requirements.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to service delivery to facilitate smooth claims processing.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including appeals and resubmissions.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with medical terminology standards and coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies that may affect billing accuracy.
- Stay current with updates in ICD coding, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and insurance policies relevant to pediatric care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing with a focus on pediatrics or similar healthcare settings.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems used for medical records management and billing processes.
- Excellent understanding of medical billing procedures, insurance claim submission workflows, and collection practices.
