Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10.

- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records related to billing activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to service delivery.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing discrepancies or coding issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and billing standards throughout all processes.
- Assist in the collection efforts by contacting patients or insurance companies to resolve outstanding balances efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing with familiarity in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Experience working with EMR and EHR systems for billing and record-keeping purposes.
- Excellent understanding of insurance claim processes, denials management, and medical collections.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for billing purposes.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred; familiarity with healthcare workflows is advantageous.
