Duties
- Develop and implement dynamic curriculum plans tailored to the developmental stages of preschool and toddler-aged children, incorporating elements of Montessori, literacy education, math, physical education, and early intervention strategies.
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction.
- Manage daily classroom activities, including circle time, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and structured learning stations.
- Monitor and assess each child's progress through observations, standardized testing where appropriate, and ongoing documentation of developmental milestones.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding their child's progress, behavior management strategies, and classroom events to foster strong partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare concerns and maintain accurate records of attendance and incident reports.
- Maintain current certifications in first aid and CPR to ensure a safe environment for all children.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with children in early childhood settings such as daycare centers or preschools.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Proficiency in curriculum development across various subjects including literacy, math, physical education, and special education needs such as early intervention.
- Excellent classroom management skills to foster positive behavior and create an organized learning environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods or other specialized teaching approaches is a plus.
- Experience with classroom experience involving toddlers or preschool-aged children is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures relevant to early childhood assessments.
- Ability to adapt lessons for children with diverse learning needs including those requiring special education services.
- Understanding of child welfare policies and mandated reporting laws to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
