Cost Controller

Position Description

Supports the Budget Manager, Contract Managers, Contract Admins and Amtrak Finance in collecting and reporting on budgets, Commitments, actuals, incurred, and forecast costs. Managing and overseeing package budgets, actual costs, forecasts, contingency, and accruals. Ensuring projects are completed within the allocated budget. Identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks in coordination with the risk management team. Maintaining the cost control system and following cost management procedures. Analyzing cost data to identify trends and discrepancies. Collecting cost impacts for potential changes and implementing changes upon approval Reviewing contractor invoices for compliance with contract from a financial perspective including expenses and rates.

Qualifications

• Financial acumen, project cost management expertise, attention to detail, good communication skills, good problem-solving skills.
• Expert with MS Excel and experience with project management software or cost control systems

Degree Requirement for Position

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or relevant discipline, or, equivalent combination of post – secondary education and training

Minimum Experience

10 Minimum Years of Experience required.

Expected Position Start Date: 3/17/2025

Position Location: Field. At a minimum: 3 days a week.

Salary Range: $70,118 to $129,365 YR
