Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to support Cornerstone Church’s mission of “Helping people know Jesus and make Him known” by providing overall care, maintenance, and functionality of church facilities. As a team of one, this individual will manage day-to-day maintenance needs, perform routine repairs, and coordinate outside vendors for specialized work. This role is essential in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment that supports the church’s mission and ministry
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems (lighting, plumbing, HVAC, doors, fixtures, etc.)
- Monitor and maintain the overall condition, cleanliness, and safety of church facilities and grounds
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Plan and carry out preventative maintenance to reduce long-term issues
- Set up and tear down rooms for services, events, and ministry activities
- Identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs proactively
- Coordinate, solicit bids, and oversee outside contractors for specialized repairs and projects
- Ensure all work—internal and contracted—is completed to quality and safety standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance records
- Manage basic maintenance budget items and report needs as they arise
- Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal and basic landscaping
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of general maintenance or facilities experience preferred
- Working knowledge of basic building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience coordinating vendors or contractors is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Flexible schedule with occasional evenings or weekends based on church activities and events
- On-call availability for urgent facility needs may be required
- Support and advance the mission, vision, and values of the church through the care and stewardship of its facilities
- Demonstrate a servant-hearted attitude in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and the congregation
- Proactively identify opportunities to engage and empower volunteers in facility-related projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission, vision, and values
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism
- Take initiative and ownership of the facility’s needs as a self-directed role
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and distraction-free environment for worship and ministry
