Corner Kitchen is located in a 125 year old Richard Sharpe Smith Victorian House where the parking is FREE!. We handcraft our food using as much local produce and proteins as possible. We touch on many of the cuisines found throughout this country. Open 7 days a week for Lunch from 11am - 3pm and for dinner from 5pm on. Located at 3 Boston Way, 28803.

General Function: Under the direction of the General Manager, as well as Owners, and in accordance with the values and policies of Westmoreland & Scully (W&S), this position serves as a Leadership role on the Manager’s team. This position provides strategic leadership in Corner Kitchen to advance W&S as the “restaurant of choice in Asheville”. Principal Responsibilities/tasks:
The restaurant manager is a leader in the restaurant responsible for maintaining the written standards of the company and ultimately delivering the financial and qualitative measurements of success. To achieve this, the manager must be an expert at balancing the needs of the team, the guests, the community and ownership.
- Staffing, training and mentoring for FOH personnel to uphold Corner Kitchen’s service standards, with particular attention to floor staff (servers, support staff, and hosts).
- General opening/closing manager responsibilities - ie: setting up the floor plan, conducting and leading pre-shift, taking care of comps and voids, counting cash drop and bank at the end of the shift, collecting server information and inputting hours/tips, closing the day, writing notes about the shift in Hotschedules, making sure the restaurant is secure and in good condition for the following shift.
- Assist in creating the schedule for FOH staff.
- Fiscal responsibility for running a profitable operation with the help and support of all staff members.
- Respectfully communicating with and maintaining a high level of cooperation with both FOH and BOH Management Team and staff.
- Must feel highly comfortable with expo and helping out the BOH Manager on duty.
- Acute attention to the maintenance of the physical plant including all plumbing, refrigeration, electrical and structural components of the restaurant and report what needs to be addressed.
- Work harmoniously with the HR Department and Owners to maintain on-boarding and training materials including all job descriptions, in-take, counseling and termination materials.
- Leadership in accordance with our 5 Core Values (Accountability, Teamwork, Community Involvement, Continuous Improvement and Guest Loyalty).
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations.
- Displays technical expertise in the areas of beverage management, kitchen operations, human resources management and front of house operations. Knows the standards and procedures associated with each of these areas and can teach them to others.
- Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule to include days, nights, weekends and some holidays.
- Other responsibilities as given by the GM and Owners.
Qualifications:
Two to four years of professional experience with a background in food-related business.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
Proven experience in management and organizational skills.
Knowledge of food, craft beer, wine, and spirits.
Experience with restaurant POS systems and Google Suite.
Must have demonstrated ability to communicate well with others, be a team player and have excellent strategic leadership skills.
A natural surplus of hospitality extended to guests, employees and vendors.
Craftsmanship - whatever you do, do it with excellence.

Kitchen environment - hot tools, plates, areas, sharp knives, swinging doors, climbing up and down stairs
Exempt status
Dynamic schedule can vary from week to week; work required on weekends and holidays and must be willing to work 45-50 hours per week, as needed. Benefits/Health Care: Health benefits and other benefits are available after a 90-day probationary period for staff members who work an average of 30 hours or more per week.
