Cornell Forge is a recognized leader in the forging industry with a longstanding reputation for producing complex parts. Our facility is located just south of Chicago in Bedford Park.
We are currently recruiting for a Salesman. The ideal candidate should understand and have experience with the full sales cycle (prospecting, developing/generating RFQ’s, order entry, retention). The candidate will have 1 – 3 years experience in manufacturing preferably in steel forging or machining. Critical to the success of this position is the ability to work well in a collaborative manner within the company.
Essential Functions:
- Understand how to develop relationships with customers at various organizational levels
- Responsive to customer’s requests via phone and e-mail, even during travel
- Working with Customer Service-Inside Sales to accomplish the above effectively
- Cold calling and developing prospects for company growth is a key part of the job
- Understand and possess the ability to secure new orders per above
- Works closely with cross-functional team staff including Engineering, Quality and Production
- Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Have the ability to manage and grow the current customer base
- Willing to travel up to 80% and participate in trade shows
- Territory includes the western half of the United States and Canada (from Illinois), excluding California
- In office presence not required; prefer residence to be in the Sales territory

Job Requirements
- 5 –10 years solid sales growth experience
- A background in forgings, castings or manufacturing preferred with the ability to read customer prints
- Self-starter who takes ownership of his work with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while working effectively in a team environment
- Possesses proficient computer skills using MS Office, Outlook, and prefer experience with Microsoft Dynamics or a similar CRP software
- Must be computer proficient – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and be able to learn our ERP software as necessary
