Senior Service Desk Technician / Engineer

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ – Onsite 100%
Type:  Full Time Hire
Travel: Project work may require on-site client visits within the Southern New Jersey / Philadelphia metro area 
Some projects require that work be performed outside of normal business hours. 
 
This is a senior technical role responsible for executing IT projects designed by senior engineers and architects. This position focuses on high-quality implementation, professional client interaction, and thorough documentation across multiple client environments.
This role is ideal for an experienced MSP technician who enjoys project work, can operate independently, and takes pride in clean execution without owning solution design decisions.
 
Required Qualifications
•    3-5 years of experience in an MSP or multi-client IT environment
•    Strong Windows Server administration experience (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
•    Microsoft 365 administration experience (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune exposure)
•    Solid networking fundamentals including VLANs, routing, firewall rules, and NAT
•    Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware
•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to clearly document technical work in a client-facing format
Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience performing Microsoft 365 migrations (cutovers, tenant-to-tenant, hybrid)
•    VMware vCenter / ESXi or Hyper-V clustering experience
•    Firewall experience with common SMB platforms (Fortinet, SonicWall, Meraki, WatchGuard)
•    Azure IaaS fundamentals
•    Relevant certifications (Network , AZ-104, MS-102, or similar)
 
Required Duties:
Projects are executed on time, within scope, and with minimal rework
Risks, gaps, or deviations are identified early and escalated appropriately
Server, network, and Microsoft 365 projects are implemented cleanly with rollback awareness
Client environments are left well-documented and support-ready
Clients and internal teams experience clear, professional communication
 
Key Responsibilities
Execute IT projects designed by senior engineers or architects
Perform server deployments, upgrades, and migrations
Implement Microsoft 365 projects including tenant setup, migrations, and configuration
Execute network-related project tasks (VLANs, routing, firewall changes, wireless deployments)
Perform virtualization tasks using Hyper-V and/or VMware
Participate in project cutovers, including evening and weekend work when required
Communicate project status, risks, and blockers to the Project Lead
Work directly with clients during on-site and remote project activities
Create and update technical documentation including as-builts, diagrams, and closeout notes
Adhere to internal standards, procedures, and security best practices
Assist with mentoring junior technicians when appropriate
 
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to work in data centers, server rooms, and office environments
Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces as required during installations
