Position Overview:
We are seeking a Union Journeyman Tree Trimmer in multiple locations to include Napa, Petaluma, American Canyon and Pittsburg. This person will play a vital role in safely maintaining vegetation around utility lines and other designated areas. This position requires a skilled individual capable of independently performing all climbing duties and operating various equipment to ensure safe and efficient tree trimming. Journeyman Tree Trimmers must be proficient in tree climbing, rigging, and roping techniques while adhering to Core Tree Care’s safety standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform essential vegetation management tasks, including:
- Trimming, removing, bucking, and limbing trees using chainsaws and proper cutting techniques.
- Operating and maintaining equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and company vehicles.
- Setting up job sites, managing debris clean-up, and ensuring traffic control.
- Conducting routine inspections and maintenance of climbing gear, vehicles, and equipment.
- Execute tree climbing and rigging duties, including:
- Performing pre-climb inspections and ascending trees using approved methods.
- Using friction hitches for safe ascent and descent.
- Performing roping and rigging operations, including tying approved knots and hitches.
- Executing proper notching and back-cutting techniques for safe tree felling.
- Support team operations and communication:
- Assisting climbers or bucket operators from the ground and acting as a spotter to ensure crew and public safety.
- Communicating effectively with team members and customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Participating in ongoing safety and skills training, including aerial rescue drills and routine certifications.
Requirements:
Experience & Qualifications:
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Minimum 18 months of line clearance experience.
- Must be a Line Clearance Qualified Arborist.
- Ability to perform all climbing duties without direct supervision.
- Must pass a documented skills assessment.
- Capable of performing general labor tasks for a full workday in various outdoor conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL Class A license preferred, not required.
- ISA Certified Tree Work preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
